Binter Canarias, a Spanish regional carrier, recently ordered a new ATR 72-500 as part of its ongoing fleet renewal process. The new plane, configured to seat 72 in the new Elegance-stye cabin, will be delivered in mid-2006. The plane will replaced an ATR 72-210 model. Since January 2004, Binter Canarias has ordered and received six ATR 72-500s and there is a possibility it may order an additional five in the next several years.

Air Tahiti has ordered an additional ATR 72-500 to handle growing traffic in French Polynesia as new resorts are developed on Bora-Bora. Air Tahiti has ordered five ATR 72-500s in the last year and its fleet now consists of four ATR 42-500s and six ATR 72-500s.

Montreal-based ExelTech Aerospace signed an agreement with a undisclosed U.S. regional airline to provide heavy maintenance service for its ATR 72 fleet. The three-year contract has a potential value of $25.2 million to $29.4 million. ExelTech said this new pact is the largest in its history. ExelTech began servicing aircraft for the carrier five years ago.

BAe Systems

BAe Systems Regional Aircraft has leased two 29-seat Jetstream 41s to Eastern Airways, a regional carrier in the United Kingdom. The two planes will be delivered as soon as they are customized. With the new aircraft, Eastern Airways will operate 19 Jetstream 41s. It is the largest operator of the aircraft outside of the United States. The carrier also operates six Jetstream 32s and four 50-seat Saab 2000s.

Skyways Aviation

Britain's Atlantic Air Transport, part of the Air Atlantique Group, recently purchased its first used ATR 72 from Aero Airlines, the Estonia-based subsidiary of Finnair. Atlantic Air already has a fleet of three ATR 42-300s. Skyways Aviation brokered the deal.

Skyways also brokered the sale of a second Saab340A to Poland's Sky Express, which was delivered earlier this month. Skyways represented an affiliated company, Skyways Express of Sweden, in the transaction.

debis AirFinance

One of the world's largest aircraft leasing and asset management companies, debis AirFinance, has changed its name to AerCap. Based in Amsterdam, the firm got the new name as a result of its sale in June to affiliates of Cerberus Capital Management. In selecting a new moniker, "cap" was chosen to represent capability, capital and capacity, according to a company statement. As it approaches its 10th anniversary, AerCap currently owns and manages a fleet of 238 jets and turboprops that are leased to 85 carriers in 46 countries.

Embraer

Embraer [ERJ] in the third quarter delivered 41 airplanes, including its first two Embraer 190s. The Brazilian firm delivered one more airplane than the same quarter a year ago.
