Bombardier

<B>Bombardier's [BBD] latest premium business jet, the Learjet 40XR, is now in service. Built in Wichita, Bombardier delivered five Learjet 40XRs in January to clients in North and Latin America. Three of these planes were placed with Bombardier's fractional ownership subsidiary, Flexjet. Seating six passengers, the plane has a range of 1,733 nautical miles. Bombardier has also sold its first upgrade kit that can transform the Learjet 40 into the Learjet 40XR.

Embraer

Last week, Centro Tecnico Aerospacial of Brazil and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified the Embraer [ERJ] 170 to perform category IIIa auto landings. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to grant similar certification shortly. The aircraft earlier had been certified for category I and II autopilot operations.

Pratt & Whitney

<B>Pratt & Whitney [UTX] plans to begin making and selling spare parts for General Electric [GE] jet engines. United Airlines [UAUA] has agreed to purchase the spare parts for about 200 engines now on its Boeing [BA] 737s. Pratt said the new spares would be available early next year. Pratt said it has spent millions to re-engineer 55 different GE parts. It hopes to sell $500 million worth of GE spares within five years.

Cirrus

Cirrus Aviation, a regional and charter operation based in Germany, last week took delivery of a Bombardier Challenger 300 and an Embraer Legacy 600. Within the next 12 months, Cirrus plans to buy another Challenger 300, a Global 5000 and its third Learjet 40.

Air T

Global Ground Support, a subsidiary of Air T [AIRT], recently sold five mobile de-icing trucks to the China Administration of Civil Aviation. The sale was worth $1.2 million. The deal supplemented an earlier $4.2 million sale of 18 de-icing trucks to the Chinese agency last November.

Cargo Data Management

Aloha Airlines recently purchased a Web-based system from Cargo Data Management to book, track and bill its cargo operations.

Megadata

Boston's Logan International Airport has become the first major U.S. airport to install Megadata's [MDTA] Passur Pulse system, a new Web-based system to bill airlines for landing fees. It replaces the airline's practice of "self-reporting."

Aviation Records

Aviation Records has begun marketing MachNumber, a multi-user, Web-based trip management system designed for on-demand air carriers to price, dispatch and manage on- demand flying.

CAE

<B>CAE [CAE] has appointed Jim O'Connell as general manager of its new North East Training Center for business aircraft near the Morristown, N.J., airport. O'Connell most recently managed simulator training in Dallas.

JETS

Peter Hadingue has joined Jet Engineering Technical Support (JETS) in Southampton, United Kingdom, as the commercial manager.

Denim Air

Ils Stuyckens has been appointed as the sales director for Denim Air, a Netherlands-based regional carrier.
