Embraer
<B>US Airways Group [LCC] has ordered 25 Embraer [ERJ] 190s and additional 32 subject to reconfirmation. The first new plane will be delivered next November. US Airways is converting its previous order of 57 undelivered Embraer 170s into the new order for the Embraer 190s. The carrier still has options for 50 aircraft from the Embraer 170/190 family. The plane will be configured with an 11-seat first class and 88-seat coach area. The GE CF34-10E will power the aircraft. Last fall, US Airways mainline pilots voted to retain flying rights to the Embraer 190 rather than to permit the aircraft to be flown by one of the US Airways Express regional partners.
Bombardier
Japan's Ryukyu Air Commuter recently ordered one Bombardier [BBD] Q300. The carrier converted an option for a Q100 into the firm order for the 50-seat turboprop. The carrier has been flying three Q100s since 1996.
The Italian government will upgrade 15 Bombardier 415 Amphibious aircraft with kits that consist of autopilot, nose radar, flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder. A year ago it purchased one kit to upgrade a 415 used in firefighting. The latest order will upgrade its entire fleet of 415s devoted to firefighting. The Italian Civil Protection agency decided to upgrade the planes since they are now frequently used outside of Italy on firefighting missions.
Horizon Air [ALK] has agreed to purchase two Q400s that have previously been used by China's Hainan Airlines. Both planes will be flown to Calgary, Alberta, where they will be extensively refurbished. The first plane is expected to enter service in June and the second in July. Horizon, which has a fleet of 18 Q400s, last year converted an order of CRJ700s into an order for 12 additional Q400s. The first of these new planes will be delivered late this year.
Adam Aircraft
The A700 Adamjet, a new very light jet from Adam Aircraft, completed its first test flight earlier this month. This is the second A700 to take to the air as part of its certification process. This is the first A700 to be constructed on its production line. Two more production aircraft will be built as part of the certification process. Adam has orders for more than 250 A700s.
Cessna
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has purchased 16 Cessna 172 aircraft for its Florida flight-training program. The planes are equipped with a glass cockpit suite from Garmin and the ADS-B collision avoidance system. The university is also adding the Garmin G-100 to its fleet of Frasca level-6 training devices.
Executive Jet Management
Executive Jet Management recently added three planes to its fleet increasing its portfolio of business aircraft to 100. The company added a Challenger 604 at its Seattle base, a Falcon 2000EX in Dallas and a Hawker 800 to its Cleveland base.
Cirrus
Cirrus Design last year shipped 600 new aircraft and logged the 701 sales. Sales activity was up 9.4 percent over 2004. To handle the demand, the company is expanding its manufacturing facilities in Duluth, Minn., and Grand Forks, N.D.
Rockwell Collins
<B>Rockwell Collins [COL] had agreed to purchase the simulation assets of Evans & Sutherland. The $71.5 million cash deal is expected to close this spring. Evans & Sutherland has 200 employees in Salt Lake City and in the United Kingdom who will be joining Rockwell Collins.
SolArc
<B>SkyWest Airlines [SKYW] has selected SolArc's RightAngle program to manage its jet fuel supply. The program will help the carrier manage its inventory, automate payables, process tax and duty payments and provides fuel use documentation to SkyWest's code-share partners.
AeroData
PSA Airlines, a unit of US Airways, has purchased two of AeroData's ACars programs to add to the flight deck technology on its Bombardier fleet. The programs include its performance package as well as its weights and balance system.
Jervis B Webb
Atlanta recently awarded a $24 million contract to Jervis B. Webb to upgrade and extend the baggage handling conveyor system at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in concourse E. The work is expected to be completed in December. Webb installed the original system in 1994.

Wing Aviation, in Houston, Texas, promoted John Olson to vice president of business development.
