Scandinavian Airlines Systems

Scandinavian Airlines Systems (SAS) recently sold five Fokker 50s in a sale-leaseback deal to Nordic Aviation Contractor, of Billund, Denmark. SAS currently operates the aircraft as part of its SAS Commuter. The carrier is leasing the airplanes back on terms that end between May and November 2008. London's Aircraft Leasing & Management brokered the deal.

Bombardier

Delta AirElite has acquired a new Challenger 300, a super mid-size business jet from Bombardier [BBD] capable for carrying nine passengers, and a new Learjet 45XR, a super light jet, also built by Bombardier, that can carry eight passengers, to its fleet of 400 managed business aircraft. Delta AirElite is the business jet charter unit of Delta Air Lines [DALQ].

Cirrus Aviation, based in Saarbruecken, Germany, is the first European customer of Global Express XRS, an ultra-long-range business jet. Cirrus is expected to take delivery of five other business jets in the next year to expand upon its fleet of 12. Four of the planes will be made by Bombardier, including the Global Express.

Raytheon

Club 328 has ordered four Beechcraft Premier 1 light jets. The Raytheon-built planes will be powered by Williams Rolls FJ44-2A engines. All planes are to be delivered by the end of the month.

Air T

China's Civil Aviation Administration has ordered 18 mobile deicing trucks from Global Ground Support, a unit of Air T [AIRT]. The $4.2 million contract includes three different sizes of the mobile units, which will be used at a variety of Chinese airports.

Island Air

Island Air, a regional carrier in Hawaii, entered into new contracts with Mehana Brewing Co., a brewery in Hilo, and Keoki Brewing, on Kauai, to provide locally brewed beers on all Island Air flights.

Cimber Aviation

Interstate Airlines of Holland has awarded a new maintenance contract to Cimber Aviation Maintenance Center. The contract covers an engine C check as well as the installation of new equipment on the carrier's ATR 42s. The work will be handled at Cimber's Sonderborg, Denmark, facility.

Banyan Air Service

Banyan Air Service has contracted with Megadata [MDTA] to use its Passur Web-based flight information tools. Banyan, a fixed base operator at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, reports that the use of the Passur package has generated increased fuel sales.

Denim Air

Netherland's based Denim Air has appointed Carst Lindeboom to a new role as manager of operational planning and control. He was most recently the sales and marketing manager.

TIMCO

TIMCO Aviation Services [TMAV] has appointed Ron Utecht as its new president and chief operating officer. He had retired in 2003 after 39 years with United Airlines [UALAQ], a stint as senior vice president of maintenance and engineering just prior to his retirement. Since August 2003, he has been a consultant to TIMCO.

Chapman and Cutler

Chapman and Cutler, a Chicago-based law firm with an aviation finance unit, recently hired Lynne A. Gochanour as a partner in the finance and leasing unit. She had previously been a partner at Vedder Price, also in Chicago.
