Traffic Advisory: CalTrans Announces Temporary I-105 Off-Ramp Closures Near LAX

PR Newswire

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) has notified Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that it will close the off-ramp from westbound I-105 Century Freeway to northbound Sepulveda Boulevard nightly beginning tonight, Monday, January 11, through Wednesday, January 13, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CalTrans will use changeable message signs on the I-405 San Diego and I-105 Century freeways to divert motorists to Imperial Highway or Century Boulevard.

This off-ramp is a major "feeder" route for motorists entering the LAX Central Terminal Area.  This week's temporary closures are expected to have little impact to passengers of approximately 20 outbound flights and even fewer inbound flights scheduled after midnight.

The closure will allow CalTrans to install temporary concrete barriers (K-rails) to ensure the safety of workers and motorists to facilitate a $10-million construction project that will add an extra lane and a standard safety shoulder to the northbound Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp.

During this project, CalTrans will completely close one lane of the northbound Sepulveda off-ramp until the project is completed Spring 2010.
