LYNNFIELD, Mass.,
June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- New England's most recognizable
and beloved floating icon is back and better than ever.
Nearly 10 months ago, the Hood Blimp made an unexpected landing in the
woods on the North Shore (Manchester-by-the-Sea) of Massachusetts. Nobody was
hurt, thanks to the experienced maneuvering of the well-trained pilot.
Repaired and retooled with High Definition cameras this year-one of fewer
than 10 blimps in the world with HD capabilities-the Hood Blimp is ready to
reclaim its rightful place amid the clouds throughout New England and New
York.
"Families across New England look forward to seeing the Hood Blimp flying
high in the sky during the summer months," said Lynne Bohan, VP of Public
Relations for HP Hood. "We received several calls and e-mails from concerned
spectators of all ages after our unexpected landing last season, wishing us
the best in recovering and repairing the blimp. We're happy to say, the Blimp
is back and better than ever."
The Blimp is currently in Beverly, Mass.; it will be in Newport, R.I., on
Saturday, June 30, for the Tall Ships Festival. From there, it will make its
way to Fenway Park for the July 2 game between the Red Sox and the Texas
Rangers before joining in the holiday festivities at the Boston Pops Fireworks
Spectacular. Throughout July, the Blimp will also make appearances in Maine,
New Hampshire and New York.
