HOUSTON,
Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On
August 2, 2007, the
International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 747 filed an "Application for
Investigation of Representation Dispute" with the National Mediation Board for
Omni Air International cockpit crewmembers. The organization drive has been
ongoing for approximately one year.
"The crewmembers of Omni Air certainly need Union representation. Their
wages, working conditions and benefits are among the worst in the Airline
Industry. We hope to have a successful campaign in the very near future in
order that we may begin the negotiations process to bring the crewmembers up
to Industry Standards," said E. E. (Gene) Sowell, President of Teamsters Local
747.
The NMB representational process is expected to take 2 to 3 months before
a Union vote will be held.
Omni Air International is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and operates
