SAO PAULO,
Brazil,
Dec. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TAM S.A. (NYSE: TAM)
(BOVESPA: TAMM4) clarifies that its operations have normalized after the
occurrences of the past few days. The company's 95 aircraft are flying
regularly and ticket sales are normal.
The confirmed delays were the consequence of the following occurrences on
December 20:
- Shutting down of Congonhas airport due to weather conditions;
- Maintenance on 6 aircraft during the day, a necessary measure for
passenger safety; and
- Successive network interruptions at the international airport in Rio de
Janeiro between TAM and Infraero.
The impact of the above-mentioned events lasted for a few days due to the
high demand registered at this time of the year. The accumulated load factor
for the month of December is 74% in the domestic market and 78% in the
international market.
TAM made every effort to minimize the impact on passengers during this
time by reinforcing check-in and ground teams at airports, renting aircraft
and having other airlines honor TAM tickets.
