Nov. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southwest Airlines Co.
(NYSE: LUV) announced today that the Company flew 5.7 billion revenue
passenger miles (RPMs) in
October 2006, compared to 5.1 billion RPMs flown in
October 2005. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 11.2 percent to
8.1 billion from the
October 2005 level of 7.3 billion. The load factor for
the month was 70.1 percent, compared to 70.4 percent for
October 2005.
For the ten months ended October 31, 2006, Southwest flew 56.6 billion
RPMs, compared to 50.2 billion RPMs for the same period in 2005. Available
seat miles increased 8.7 percent to 76.9 billion from the 2005 level of
70.7 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 73.6 percent, compared to
71.0 percent for the same period last year.
