PAMA Announces AIG Aviation to Support Certification Program

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Professional Aircraft Maintenance Association (PAMA) today announced that AIG Aviation, Inc. will support its new safety and quality certification program for aviation maintenance professionals.

Offered under the auspices of the SAE Institute, the certification program establishes and validates a broad spectrum of skills necessary in today’s rapidly advancing technological environment. The inaugural certification addresses basic aviation maintenance skills for both FAA certified and non-certified entry-level technicians. Future certifications are planned to certify advanced maintenance skills such as the repair and inspection of composite materials and master level rotorcraft expertise.

“We eagerly support PAMA’s drive to establish industry benchmarks for training and proficiency among aviation maintenance professionals,” said Will Lovett, Chief Underwriting Officer for AIG Aviation. “A program such as this with testing and training recurrence requirements is long overdue and we hope it is embraced by the entire aviation community.”

“Risk management is the foundation of aviation safety and the insurance industry has always played an important role,” Brian Finnegan, President of PAMA, said. “AIG Aviation is a global leader in aviation insurance and their support and leadership with this program is a crucial foundation block for its success. We look forward to working with AIG Aviation.”

Finnegan added that industry standardized training and certification maximizes efficient use of education investment in the aerospace workforce. “We believe that this certification program will help to benefit the entire aerospace industry.”

PAMA is an affiliate of SAE International through the SAE Institute.
