MILWAUKEE,
June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Long recognized for providing
"The best care in the air," Midwest Airlines (Amex: MEH) yesterday extended
its commitment to customer service to two special canine athletes and their
trainer. Mako, an Australian shepherd, and Nemo, a
Jack Russell terrier, flew
on Midwest Airlines from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to New York with their trainer,
Lourdes Edlin. As part of a special arrangement approved by the Federal
Aviation Administration and Midwest Airlines, Mako occupied a seat in the
aircraft's main cabin and Nemo traveled below Edlin's seat. Both dogs are
professional canine athletes and ambassadors for the Purina Incredible Dog
Challenge.

Midwest Airlines is no stranger to providing special service to its canine
customers. The airline's Premier Pet Program, launched in 2005, was the first
of its kind to reward customers with free travel for their pets and the
opportunity to redeem their own miles for pet travel.
"We recognize the challenges and fears our customers face when traveling
with their pets, and carefully train our employees in the safe treatment and
transport of pets," pointed out Susan Kerwin-Hagen, coordinator of the Premier
Pet Program. "We developed the program to provide our customers with a
value-added service and loyalty program not offered by our competitors."
