MEN Micro's EN 9100 Certification Now Qualifies Products for Use in Aviation and Space Applications

AMBLER, Pa., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- MEN Micro Inc., a world-renowned provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for demanding industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, has completed the rigorous EN 9100 certification process, making the company a qualified supplier for the aviation and space industries.

The high requirements of aviation and space applications demand extremely reliable products, which have to prove themselves over many years in rugged industrial environments. Close cooperation with the end user from the design phase through after-sales support over a period of ten years or longer is also a critical factor for manufacturers in aviation and space applications.

The EN 9100 quality management system takes these requirements into account. The specification incorporates the DIN EN ISO 9001 requirements, but adds more than 80 items focusing specifically on the aviation and space industries. These include the quality management requirements of aviation authorities, the introduction of a configuration management process tailored to the product, a first article inspection (FAI), risk assessment, verification management and traceability or the assignment of release authorizations.

The DQS GmbH (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen, German Institute for Certification of Management Systems), one of the most renowned certification companies of management systems worldwide, conducted MEN Micro's certification process.

EN 9100, based on SAE AS 9100 developed in the US and published in 2001, comprises the areas of construction, development, production, mounting and maintenance. As an EN 9100-certified manufacturer, MEN Micro is listed in the OASIS (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System) database.
