With the CDC predicting that the number of reported cases in the United States will grow rapidly as students and tourists return from trips to Mexico, many schools have shut down for cleaning.

The swine flu has been reported to have spread through schools in Ohio, New York, Texas, Kansas and California in recent days.

The CDC reports that the swine flu virus is contagious and it is thought to be spread in the same way that the seasonal flu spreads. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes people become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.
