HHS Secretary
Michael Leavitt and FDA Commissioner
Dr. Andrew von
Eschenbach will visit the O'Hare International Mail Branch at the J.T. Weeker
International Service Center on Wednesday.
On July 18, 2007 President Bush asked Secretary Leavitt to chair a working
group focused on promoting the safety of imported products. The group is
conducting an across-the-board review looking at all kinds of products
imported from many different countries and will report back to the President
in 60 days. This Illinois visit is one of many in a fact-finding tour to
gather information for that report.
Media will have an opportunity to ask questions of the Secretary during a
press availability at the site.
