GO Group Offers Travel Tips for Holiday Travel Crush

CHICAGO, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of GO Group, the global consortium of 39 independent airport shuttle operators, have collected their best suggestions for handling long lines and short tempers at the airport during the holidays.

Seattle's GO Shuttle Express suggests preventing delays in the security line by layering when you pack. Layer clothes, then electronics, more clothes, and then any heavier items in your carry-on so that security officers clearly see your bag's contents when x-raying it.

Don't forget to bring your cell phone charger in your carry-on. If you become stranded or delayed in bad weather it can be a lifesaver, says GO Airport Passenger Service in Minneapolis.

Before you go, Yellow Checker Shuttle in Dallas recommends you check arrival and departure airports' Web sites for terminal maps and local weather conditions.

Alternatives to parking at the airport are a must at the holidays when the lots fill up fast. GO Airport Connection in Milwaukee points out that more than one person has missed a flight while circling the lot, looking for a space. Once you do find one, GO Airport Shuttle in Baltimore reminds us to think about, "returning to a snow-covered car in a distant parking lot."

Some other tips from GO Group members include:

-- Do not carry wrapped gifts in carry-on or checked luggage. TSA screens
all bags, and even a gift in checked luggage can be opened by security.
-- View the latest security changes and the TSA's prohibited items list by
checking the TSA Web site at http://www.tsa.gov before packing.
-- International travelers should check the U.S. Department of State Web
site at http://www.state.gov for any travel warnings and the nearest
       U.S. consulate at your destination.
-- Bring copies of your passport and/or visa. If you lose these, having
copies will help you get a replacement faster.

Launched in August to serve as a convenient, one-stop source for door-to-door airport shuttle services, GO Airport Shuttle serves 110 airports around the world with a fleet of 3,765 vehicles that transport close to 29 million passengers annually.

Through GO's Web site, http://www.goairportshuttle.com, travelers can easily book ground transportation to and from both departure and destination airports.
