Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest Honors Insitu With Its 2008 Building the Future Award

BEAVERTON, Ore. and BINGEN, Wash., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest (EFNW) and Insitu, Inc. announced that EFNW has chosen Insitu for its 2008 Building the Future Award. The award was presented to Insitu at the fourth annual 'Light A Fire' event on Tuesday evening, October 28. Hosted by the Portland Monthly and Oregon Community Foundation, the 'Light A Fire' event was the first ever event to be held in the Nines Ballroom of the Four Star Nines Hotel atop the new Macy building in downtown Portland. The event is an evening dedicated to honoring the hardworking individuals and organizations who have performed extraordinary acts of service among the Portland area's nonprofit community. For the past four years, EFNW has been the beneficiary of 100 percent of the net proceeds of the event that has enabled the Foundation to continue its efforts to inspire the next generation of giving and volunteerism.

According to EFNW president Dave Squire, "Selecting a winner for this award is always difficult because we have so many member companies performing so many meaningful community service projects. This year, however, Insitu clearly stood out. Since becoming an EFNW member in 2006, the company has made corporate social responsibility a permanent part of its business and understands how this contributes to the success of the community. Insitu covers the full spectrum of corporate social responsibility including frequent volunteer projects, a foundation for educational scholarships, dedicated staff to manage their community outreach, executives and staff serving on non-profit boards, green business practices, and an annual intern program."

"Insitu is extremely pleased to receive this award," said Steve Sliwa, President & CEO of Insitu. "We work hard to support our community in as many different ways as we can. EFNW is one of the organizations that enable us to do this very effectively."

The annual EFNW Building the Future Award is presented to the Foundation member company that has best made corporate social responsibility a part of who they are and how they do business, in a way that provides community benefit both now and into the future. The award criteria include the structure and content of the company's community involvement program, the existence of community-minded business practices, the level of involvement of the executive team, and the implementation of the company human resources policies.
