Continental Benefits From DOT's Holiday Travel Initiatives

HOUSTON, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Larry Kellner, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) chairman and CEO, today issued the following statement regarding President Bush and the Department of Transportation's (DOT) holiday travel initiatives implemented for the Thanksgiving holiday travel period:

"We utilized the airspace throughout the busy holiday travel period and saw customer benefits to our operation along the East Coast. I commend Secretary Peters and her staff at DOT, Bobby Sturgell and his staff at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Defense (DOD) for opening military airspace to civil aircraft over the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope DOT and DOD will continue to consider opening military airspace during other critical travel times throughout the year as well as during periods of severe weather. Secretary Peters should consider her operational initiatives a success and we look forward to continuing to work with the Secretary and the FAA in our mutual efforts to reduce delays in the New York/New Jersey area."
