HOUSTON,
Nov. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines
(NYSE: CAL) has expanded functions on its continental.com Web site to allow
customers to check in for flights in Spanish. The new tool, which complements
the site's existing Spanish-language functionality, is part of Continental's
Latinization initiative for Spanish-speaking customers.
"As the Hispanic online population increases, more Spanish speakers are
turning to the Internet for information and services," said Gabriela
Contreras, Continental Senior Analyst of Online Services, Electronic
Marketing. "Now our Spanish-speaking passengers can book their flights, check
in online, select seat assignments and reduce their time in line at the
airport."
Customers can access the Spanish-language features at
http://continental.com by clicking the "Espanol" button, where they also can
enroll in Continental's award-winning OnePass frequent-flyer program; access
timetable, flight and gate information; provide customer feedback; and order
gift certificates. Passengers also can access information in Spanish about
Presidents Clubs, in-flight amenities, airports, and Continental history,
policies and procedures.
Latin American and Caribbean destinations comprise more than half of
Continental Airlines' international destinations. The airline offers service
to 77 destinations in 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Continental flies nonstop to 30 destinations in Mexico - more than any other
airline. The carrier also offers nonstop service to more Central American
cities (11) than any other U.S. airline and serves nine South American
destinations.
Continental began offering Spanish-language functions on its Web site in
2003. In addition, the airline offers a number of other Spanish-language
services, including bilingual flight attendants on many flights to Latin
America, and bilingual airport personnel, reservations agents and signage.
Passengers can make reservations in Spanish at 1-800-537-9222. Continental
Airlines has been named for nine consecutive years to Hispanic Magazine's list
of "100 Best Companies for Hispanics" (1998-2006).
