CAV International Appoints Bill McLendon as C.O.O.

Airfield Services & Logistics Experts

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- CAV International, Inc., a US Government outsourcing contractor specializing in Airfield Services & Logistics, has appointed Bill McLendon as Chief Operating Officer. CAV’s largest current customers include USAF’s Air Mobility Command and the US Transportation Command, so McLendon’s own Air Force heritage serves CAV well. He was the #1 graduate from the US Air Force Academy, a Rhodes Scholar, and an F-15 instructor pilot, in addition to serving in the first Gulf War. His highly comparable experiences as Vice President-Operations for the dramatic growth of “ASIG” (Aircraft Service International Group, Inc.) mesh closely with CAV’s air base services operations. McLendon takes charge of all the day to day operations of CAV International, responsible for its leadership, growth, and continuous improvement. Carroll Vaughan, the company’s President & Founder, remains in that role and will lead the company’s senior level business development and growth efforts. This appointment is another step toward CAV’s long term goal of becoming the largest and best independent Airfield Services & Logistics government outsourcing contractor in the industry.

Prior to joining CAV (pronounced as in “Cavalry”), McLendon was President and Chief Executive Officer of JetCorp in St. Louis MO, a leading provider of aircraft technical services performing over 600,000 man-hours per year of high-end modifications, engineering, and completions on corporate aircraft. He was also Senior Vice President—Tech Ops for JetCorp’s parent, Sentient, an operator of over 200 private jets. In his distinguished aviation services career, Mr. McLendon has also held executive and general management positions with Stevens Aviation (a national aviation maintenance provider and airfield FBO chain), and ATS Aerospace (an aviation training/simulation company that was named one of the Top 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada). At Stevens Aviation, McLendon took over general management and post-merger integration for that aviation chain’s largest acquisition. Before JetDirect, McLendon was the Senior Vice President for Operations at ARC/Pomeroy IT Solutions, where he led national service operations involving information technology deployments and field support services employing over 2000 technical associates in numerous locations. McLendon directly supervised nearly 7 million man-hours/year of professional services for numerous commercial and Government agencies.

McLendon’s growth accomplishments with ASIG are noteworthy. That market leading airfield services, ramp, terminal, cargo, and fueling company more than doubled to over 4250 people at 56 airports during his tenure. With a specialty for turning around large hubs and improving operational quality and measurable performance for customers, McLendon was instrumental in ASIG being named the best brand in its class by airlines surveys during those years. Later sold to a British conglomerate, ASIG today has over 7,000 employees and continues to be the leading brand in its class.

McLendon holds a B.S., Engineering Mechanics degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and B.A./ M.A. Master’s degrees from Oxford University, England, as a Rhodes Scholar. He currently serves on the Aviation Technology and Maintenance Committee of the National Air Transportation Association. He is fluent in French, and still enjoys flying as an active pilot.

Carroll Vaughan, President, said: “We welcome Bill McLendon as CAV’s new Chief Operating Officer. His qualifications are impeccable, and he is the kind of well experienced leader that we need to keep growing and improving for our customers. He personifies our commitments to Quality, Safety, and F.A.R. Compliance.”

CAV International operates in the growing military outsourcing arena. The US Government is pursuing competitive sourcing and privatization to free up dollars for its highest priorities, especially modernization. It is within this arena that CAV has established its strong reputation for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The company maintains a lean cost model, and is able to offer its Government or Prime Contractor customers an absolute cost advantage combined with measurably superior quality metrics on a consistent and reliable basis. Considered to be experts at Airfield Services & Logistics; the majority of CAV's contracts currently service specialized airfield operations at numerous locations. All of DOD’s transport-sized aircraft, combined with the “CRAF” fleet of civilian airliners, together are the primary fleet that CAV serves with its many capabilities, and that combined airlift represents, by far, the “largest airline in the world.” The Company's excellent track record and business principles make CAV International a Partner of Choice for the USAF, other branches of the military, and Government agencies. CAV focuses internally to be a strong and fair employer, aiming to be an Employer of Choice for entrepreneurial aviation services professionals who thrive in the military services environment.
