Aviation Rulemaking Committee Reviews Age 60 Issues and Public Comments

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Age 60 Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) gathered in Washington, D.C. last Friday for its second meeting. Committee participants used their time together to discuss issues associated with the Age 60 rule and share their varying perspectives on the need for a change. The ARC also began reviewing responses to a request for public comments issued earlier in the week.

"Clearly this is an issue that has wide-ranging implications for both airlines and the pilot community," said ALPA President Duane Woerth and ATA President and CEO James C. May, who serve as co-chairs of the committee.

The ARC has begun the process of drafting its report and expects to deliver it to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by the end of November.

The FAA Age 60 ARC provides a forum for the U.S. aviation community to review and make recommendations regarding the International Civil Aviation Organization revised standard for pilot retirement age.
