American Eagle Pilot and AA Credit Union Member-Owner Lands $50,000 as Grand Prize Winner in '$50k Your Way' Sweepstakes

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Friday the 13th turned out to be surprisingly lucky for American Eagle Capt. William Karr Jr. of Lake Dallas, Texas. That was the day American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AA Credit Union) President and CEO, Angie Owens, called him to say he was about to become $50,000 richer.

Karr was the grand prize winner in the “$50K Your Way” Sweepstakes, sponsored by Digital Insight, an Intuit company, which is AA Credit Union’s third-party provider for online banking services. Karr was chosen at random from all entrants in this national contest designed to help raise awareness of the benefits of paying your bills online.

During the sweepstakes, new Bill Pay users earned $10 simply by paying 10 bills online. There were also 10 daily instant prizes of $100 and an opportunity for all participating member-owners/customers from participating financial institutions to enter to win the $50,000 grand prize.

Karr is married with two children, one of whom will begin attending Texas A&M University in the fall, so the prize money will definitely come in handy. Karr will be presented with his sweepstakes payout at 11 a.m. on March 5 in the lobby of the AA Credit Union Flagship Branch.

Karr joined the Credit Union shortly after he was hired in 1991 and has been paying his bills online through CUAcce$$™ since 2000. He never expected to receive a call from Owens advising that he was the Grand Prize winner of the “$50K Your Way” Sweepstakes.

“Really? You’re kidding,” was Karr’s first response when he heard the news. Owens assured him he was indeed the winner, adding how thrilled she was that one of the AA Credit Union member-owners had won the prize.

“I’m thrilled I won the prize, too,” Karr said and laughed.

The next Bill Pay Sweepstakes kicked off on March 2.
