American Airlines Applauds U.S. Senator Hutchison's Appointment to the Position of Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member

FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines is delighted that U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) has been named Ranking Republican member of the Senate Aviation Subcommittee.

American Chairman and CEO Gerard Arpey said, "For many years Senator Hutchison has been recognized as one of the most effective leaders in Congress on the complex technical, economic, and policy issues of aviation and aerospace. Having previously served as Chairman of the Aviation Subcommittee, there could have been no better choice by the Senate leadership to fill this important position. This is good news for the aviation community in general, and particularly good news for those of us based in Texas".

Senator Hutchison has a strong legacy of forging bipartisan coalitions on a multitude of transportation issues including passage in 2006 of a measure dealing with the Wright Amendment and Love Field in Dallas. Her depth of experience and her knowledge about aviation matters is critically important to the legislative process in Washington.

American Airlines looks forward to continuing to work with her on legislation that supports the airline industry and its employees.
