Akron-Canton Airport Recognized as World Class Customer Service Provider in Northeast Ohio

GREEN, Ohio, June 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Serving customers is priority one at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). The airport's efforts were recently acknowledged at the World Class Customer Service Awards presented by SmartBusiness Network and Metro Lexus. Twenty-six honorees were selected from more than 70 nominations to receive a Five Star World Class Customer Service Award during the first annual event. Additionally, at the award ceremony Thursday, June 7, 2007, CAK was judged the Service Brand Promise category winner because of its efforts to offer the best possible experience to valued customers. Initiatives like free Wi-Fi; complimentary Akron Beacon Journal newspapers on courtesy shuttles; extending the hours of our Visitor's Information Center until midnight; and a new waiting lounge with comfy leather chairs impressed the judges and cinched the award for the airport.

"It is an honor to be recognized for outstanding customer service," said airport director Fred Krum. "Every decision we make revolves around how it affects our passengers. We add amenities and services that improve the overall travel experience. We are committed to the core to our passengers, it's what makes us a better way to go." he said.

David Regula, Akron-Canton Airport customer service manager, accepted the Service Brand Promise category award on behalf of CAK. The award was presented by Marty Hauser, President and CEO, of SummaCare. Other award categories included: Above and Beyond, Zero Risk, Best Training Systems, Personalized Service, Service Standards, Servant Culture, Making Price Irrelevant, the Great Escape, Customer Service Accountability and Best Experience. Additional information regarding award winners can be found at http://www.sbnonline.com/National/Article.aspx?CID=12223.

The airport dedicated its new, spacious, four-gate passenger concourse in early May and celebrated its sixtieth birthday in October 2006. Additional information including flight reservations, driving instructions, and a relaxation station is available at http://www.akroncantonairport.com, CAK's comprehensive web portal.
