Aircell's Gogo Inflight Internet Wins WAEA Avion Award for Best Achievement in Technology Aircell Selected as Winner During Grand Opening of 30th Annual WAEA Conference & Exhibition

ITASCA, Ill., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The year following Gogo Inflight Internet's official launch has been marked with achievements every step of the way. With five airline partners commercially deployed, another three committed to go live in the next year and Aircell equipment installed on more than 570 aircraft, Gogo® service is enabling thousands of satisfied airline passengers to be productive, informed and entertained every day.

Today, Aircell adds another achievement to this list as the company announces that Gogo Inflight Internet has been named "Best Achievement in Technology" in the Avion Awards, presented annually by the World Airline Entertainment Association.

"2009 has certainly been exciting for Aircell, with three new airline customer announcements, fleet-wide Gogo installations on two airlines and more significant milestones yet to come before year's end," said Ron LeMay, Aircell President & CEO. "Receiving the 'Best Achievement in Technology' award by WAEA is a testament to Gogo's success in such a short time period and Gogo's bright future as a revenue generator for the airlines and productivity tool and source of information and entertainment for passengers."

The Avion Award for Best Achievement in Technology, announced on October 5 during the WAEA 30th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Palm Springs, honors excellence in inflight entertainment and communications (IFE&C). This annual award is open to any WAEA member, airline or vendor, and is designed to recognize a specific achievement in technology that has been accomplished or advanced in the past year.

Following an open submission period, during which companies submitted essays outlining their technological accomplishments, a panel of industry experts deemed Gogo Inflight Internet to be worthy of this award, by virtue of the service being innovative, sustainable and of technical benefit and improvement to the IFE&C industry.
