AIR FRANCE KLM Takes Flight With TIBCO SOA and CEP Software

PARIS, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) today announced that AIR FRANCE KLM, Europe's largest airline group, has chosen TIBCO's software as its enterprise backbone to integrate disparate IT assets under one open, scalable service-oriented architecture (SOA) framework. The seamless integration of AIR FRANCE KLM's legacy applications will help streamline business processes and improve efficiency. In addition, TIBCO's complex event processing software will provide real-time analysis and insight into operational performance and customer needs to help increase the airline carrier's market agility and competitive responsiveness.

"Bringing together complex IT environments and specialised workflows from two different organisations, as a result of our recent merger, required a software provider with a flexible IT foundation that would enable us to bring targeted, innovative offerings to market faster," said Jean-Christophe Lalanne, Director of Strategy Service, Architecture, and Technology Corporate for Air France KLM. "We were also looking for a technology partner that would provide proven products and ongoing technical expertise to help us unlock and derive value from our current IT assets. TIBCO is clearly the integration and SOA market leader that can help us meet our strategic objectives over the long-term."

The agreement, which was closed during the fourth quarter of last year, is part of AIR FRANCE KLM's strategy to upgrade its IT environment. This includes the implementation of a standards-based SOA framework composed of TIBCO Enterprise Message Service(TM), TIBCO Hawk(R), TIBCO BusinessWorks(TM), and TIBCO BusinessEvents(TM).

Murat Sonmez, executive vice president, Strategic Markets, TIBCO, commented: "TIBCO has a proven history of helping enterprise organizations merge IT assets to support company-wide strategic business initiatives and ultimately long-term growth. Additionally, TIBCO has a dedicated team of technology experts specific to the airline industry that will successfully lead AIR FRANCE KLM through their entire integration process using our latest SOA and CEP software."

About AIR FRANCE KLM

The business combination agreement between Air France and KLM gave rise to Europe's number one air transport group in May 2004, based on a holding company and two airlines, keeping their own brands and identity. Together, Air France and KLM represent 70 million passengers and a fleet of 561 aircraft. Both airlines offer their customers a combined network, which includes a total of 242 destinations in 105 countries.
