NowGen – Status of Currently Fielded Technologies
In many instances around the country, and for certain programs, NextGen is here. Trials, demonstrations, and installations are occurring at airports, in cockpits and on the ground as early adopters and industry stakeholders look to see these technologies in practice. How are these technologies performing? What are some lessons learned from early adopters? How do these trials and practices advance the cause of system-wide NextGen implementation?

Moderator: Paul McGraw, Senior Managing Director, Operations and Safety, Airlines 4 America
Speakers: Brian Adams, Product Marketing Director, GE Aviation

John Kefaliotis, Vice President of Next Generation Transportation Systems, ITT Exelis
Sid Rudolph, Director of Strategy, Lockheed Martin Transportation Solutions
Captain Brian Townsend, Flight Technical Operations, US Airways

Public-Private Partnerships: Providing the Foundation for NextGen Implementation
It has been repeated over and over again that National Airspace System (NAS) Stakeholders, public and private alike, must work together to ensure NextGen is implemented. This panel will discuss some of these partnerships already in the field, including the FAA NextGen testbeds. Can these partnerships be expanded? Can new ones be forged? How do these fit into the overall implementation of NextGen?

Moderator: Emily Feliz, Editor in Chief, Avionics Magazine
Speakers:

Chris Brinton, President and Principal Analyst, Mosaic ATM
Wade Lester, NextGen Program Manager, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Pat McNall, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Acquisition and Business & Chief Acquisition Officer, FAA

Keynote Luncheon

12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Global NextGen: Ensuring Worldwide Harmonization
NextGen can only be fully realized if completely synced with similar efforts in Europe and across the world. Harmonization efforts are well underway, but what is the status? How are the two bodies working together to ensure communications and capabilities will be seamless for trans-Atlantic travel? And for avionics manufacturers, what needs to happen to be sure the NextGen enabled equipment works around the world?

Moderator: Dr. Ruth Stilwell, Representative to ICAO, International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations
Speakers: Gerald Dillingham, Director Physical Infrastructure, Government Accountability Office
Todd Donovan, President, Thales ATM
Carey Fagan, Executive Director, FAA International Affairs

Man vs. Unmanned: Integrating UAS into the NAS
Unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have proven their worth in the battlespace and now they are being eyed for civil applications, including border patrol and law enforcement services. Whatever the mission, however, these systems have to co-exist with aircraft already in the airspace. What will UAS integration into the NAS look like? What type of equipment is needed is ensure safe operations? Should these systems be held to the same standards as manned aircraft?

Moderator: Ben Gielow, Government Relations Manager and General Counsel, Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI)
Speakers: Chuck Johnson, Manager, UAS in the NAS Project, NASA
David Vos, Sr. Director, UAS and Control Technologies, Rockwell Collins
John Walker, President, JS Walker Group Aviation Solutions and Co-Chairman RTCA Special Committee 203, Unmanned Aircraft Systems

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Making the Investment – What is Needed to Close NextGen’s Business Case?
Investment in NextGen depends on the user community realizing the operational benefits and efficiencies to achieve the return on the investment. And with 2020 nearing, NextGen can’t wait for the budget battles to be fought in Congress or for the economy to improve. What do these have to do with NextGen? What can be done by avionics manufacturers and others to help make the business case for NextGen?

Moderator: Heidi Williams, Vice President, Air Traffic Services and Modernization, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)
Speakers:

Kristen Burnham, Director, Investment Planning and Analysis, FAA
Melvin Davis, Air Traffic Controller, Department of Transportation (DOT)/FAA and CPC National NextGen representative, National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA)
Captain Steve Dickson, Senior Vice President-Flight Operations, Delta
