Summit Honors Flying Heroes With Helicopter Paint Project
Greenwich AeroGroup company Summit Aviation has recreated the original colors of the OH-6 Cayuse used in the Vietnam War for the Operation Flying Heroes program, which provides flights for Afghanistan and Iraq wounded warriors at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Summit applied the Vietnam-era paint scheme to a (formerly blue and white) Hughes/MD OH-6 Little Bird based in Carlisle, Pa. U.S. Army Gen. Richard Cody (Ret.), who takes wounded warriors up in an OH-6, noted that Summit finished the paint scheme in around three weeks. The program also offers rides and instruction in the Robinson R44 and fixed-wing Cessna 206.
