EC135 Lands Off-Shore Wind Farm Job
Bond Air Services (BAS), the UK’s largest operator of EC135 helicopters, has been selected to help tend the Greater Gabbord wind farm scheduled for installation in the North Sea off the coast of Suffolk. BAS will purchase an EC135 to shuttle workers and supplies between the shore and the 140 3.6 mega watt wind turbines 20 miles out in the North Sea from East Anglia. The helicopter will be required to deliver its passengers and equipment to the tops of the huge turbines towers via hoist. Once completed in 2010, the farm will be the largest in the world.
