John R. Frye

John Frye is currently the Capability Insertions Program Manager for Lockheed Martin’s GPS III Program. In that capacity, John manages both contract and internal research and development projects focused on the development and implementation of affordable technologies as well as future GPS III capabilities.

John joined Lockheed Martin, or what was General Electric, in 1981 as an electromagnetic design engineer. In the period from 1981 to 1995, John took on a progressive series of assignments involving communications equipment design, communications payload design and communications satellite system design leading to the role of chief engineer for a land mobile satellite system. From 1995 to 2005, John performed in a number of engineering management and business development roles leading to his participation in the GPS III proposal team.

A 1981 graduate of Drexel University, John has a BSEE degree. John continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania and obtained masters degrees in electrical engineering (1985) and systems engineering (1991).
