Capt. Bob Hilb (Ret.) is a consultant to industry and government organizations on various CNS/ATM technologies. He retired in April 2008 as Manager of the Advanced Flight Systems Department at United Parcel Service. His department recommended new technologies and systems for UPS aircraft and operations.
Capt. Hilb graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a BS degree in Astronautical Engineering and Computer Science. He received a MS degree in Computer Science from Auburn University. He was an airline captain for over 26 years and is type rated in Boeing 727, 737, 757, and 767 aircraft.
Capt. Hilb has participated on and chaired industry groups on ADS-B, Controller Pilot Data Link Communications, Flight Management Systems and Airborne Separation Assurance. He has been a member of a number of aviation advisory groups such as the Gore Commission, the National Academies study on NASA, the FAA Free Flight Steering Committee and Air Traffic Management Advisory Committee. He holds a number patents on various aviation technologies.
