United Rotorcraft to Complete EC130 T2 Demonstrator

United Rotorcraft, an Air Methods Division, has received a new contract to complete an Airbus EC130 T2 emergency medical services (EMS) demonstrator for Airbus Helicopters in Grand Prairie, Texas. The aircraft completion will take place at United Rotorcraft’s Decatur, Texas facility and will include medical interior, avionics, exterior lighting accessories, and full aircraft paint.

The aircraft is a part of Airbus’s EMS demonstrator program that will include a multi-city tour across the United States this summer demonstrating the next generation air medical service capabilities of its EC130 T2.

United Rotorcraft’s newly Federal Aviation Administration-approved medical interior includes the Lowered Patient Loading System (LPLS) to easily load and secure patients and neonatal isolettes for transport. On board medical systems include a 10 Liter Liquid Oxygen (LOX) system, integrated compressed air, suction, and tailored mounts to accommodate carry-on medical equipment as well as AC power.

The United Rotorcraft avionics suite includes the Garmin G500 multifunction display integrated with Garmin GTN 750/650 GPS/NAV/COMM radios in a custom instrument panel and glare shield, Garmin HTAWS, traffic, weather, satellite tracking, NAT Internal Communications System (ICS) and Technisonic tactical radios for ground communication. The avionics suite and medical interior are Night Vision compatible and STC approved by Aviation Specialties Unlimited, Inc. (ASU).
