Marine One Replacement Back on the Table
Marine Corps Commandant, Gen. James Amos has stated that a program aimed at replacing the Sikorsky VH-60s and VH-3 Sea Kings that carry the president has moved forward. "I can't tell you where it is with regards to the budget, I just know that it's not on the back burner anymore. It's actually moved forward and we need to find a replacement for the president's helicopter," Amos said. Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates shut down a $13 billion Marine One replacement effort in 2009, which was aimed at purchasing 28 Lockheed Martin VH-71s.
