Eagle Copters Receives FAA Certification for 407HP Program

Less than two weeks after receiving its Transport Canada certification, Eagle Copters Ltd. has received Federal Aviation Administration certification for its Eagle 407HP program.

Eagle Copters specializes in sales, leasing, product development and engineering, and is a Bell Platinum Customer Service provider. Its Eagle 407HP is a conversion of the existing Bell 407 helicopter. By virtue of a Supplemental Type Certification (STC), the upgrade replaces the OEM- installed Rolls Royce C47 turbine engine with a next-generation Honeywell HTS900 turbine engine, significantly improving the Bell 407’s high altitude and hot ambient temperature performance.

Among the advantages offered to operators seeking better performance from the Bell 407, the Eagle 407HP conversion introduces increased shaft horsepower, improving the payload capability and ultimately resulting in increased capabilities of the helicopter over a wider operating spectrum. Additional benefits include increased speed, reduced fuel consumption, and the incorporation of a true dual-channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system.

The company reports three firm orders have been taken over the recent holiday break with a significant increase in interest in the program.
