UTC Aerospace to Develop Actuators for U.S. Air Force
Boeing has selected UTC Aerospace Systems to assist in developing advanced actuation technology for future U.S. Air Force tactical fighter and air mobility aircraft.
The research and development for the actuators will be performed as part of the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory’s Integrated Vehicle Energy Technology (INVENT) program. UTC and Boeing are collaborating to develop and test an integrated suite of actuators with technology focused on improving energy, power and thermal management for primary flight control.
"Our experience and expertise developing advanced, reliable, power-optimized actuation systems brings a unique capability to Boeing and the U.S. Air Force. We are pleased to cooperate on such a significant program and look forward to this and future collaboration on next generation military aircraft,” said Mike Gardiner, president of actuation systems at UTC Aerospace Systems.
UTC will perform the research and development for the new actuator technology at its electronic systems center in Phoenix.
