U.S. Navy Acquires 52 GE F414 Engines
The U.S. Navy has exercised an $800 million 2013 contract option to acquire 52 GE F414 jet engines, with options to purchase up to 200 additional engines. The contract option is in support of the Navy’s plans to expand its fleet of F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers.
"We are proud to support the U.S. Navy and appreciate their continued confidence in the F414," said Tony Mathis, general manager of the GE-Lynn Turbofan and Turbojet Project Department. "GE Aviation is committed to producing the highest quality engines and ensuring that deliveries and support are optimum for the Navy." More
