Oman to Acquire Typhoons, Hawks from BAE Systems

The Royal Air Force of Oman has agreed to a $4.1 billion purchase of 12 Typhoon and eight Hawk advanced trainer aircraft from BAE Systems. The deal calls for BAE Systems to provide in-service support to Oman as well.

The Gulf nation will become the seventh country in the world to operate the Typhoon.

“BAE Systems has a long history of working in Oman and we are delighted this contract will enable us to continue to work together. We believe that Oman has now added the most advanced fighter jet and proven training aircraft, available in the world, to its military portfolio,” said Guy Griffiths, group managing director for BAE Systems’ international business unit.

The aircraft are scheduled for delivery to Oman beginning in 2017.
