Bell to Deliver H-1 Helos to U.S. Marines, Pakistan
The U.S. Navy has awarded Bell Helicopter a $581 million contract modification to deliver H-1 helicopters to the U.S. Marine Corps and the government of Pakistan. A modification to a previously awarded acquisition contract, this award tasks Bell with manufacturing and delivering 16 UH-1Y Yankee utility helicopters, 19 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters and 21 auxiliary fuel kits. The two H-1 airframes share an 85-percent commonality on major components, according to Bell. Work will be performed in the OEM's Fort Worth and Amarillo, Texas, facilities. Completion is expected for Aug. 2018. The contract amount is the sum of U.S. Navy ($523,193,712) and Pakistani ($57,919,709) purchases under the Foreign Military Sales program. Fiscal 2014 and 2015 aircraft procurement and foreign military sales funds, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, will be obligated at the time of award. The Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
