Berry Aviation (BAI) has added several new general aviation (GA) aircraft to its fleet to expand its cargo airlift and short takeoff and landing (STOL) operations throughout North America and into Africa.
The San Marcos, Texas-based operator added three de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otters and one Embraer EMB-120. Two of the Twin Otters are headed to Africa to provide aerial delivery, casualty evacuation and cargo airlift missions for the Department of Defense (DOD) throughout the Trans-Sahara region.
“We are excited to expand into Africa utilizing the Twin Otter. It is highly regarded for its reliability and is well suited for utility air transportation in remote and austere environments,” said Sonny Berry, CEO and president.
The third Twin Otter will be used for training exercises, and the EMB-120 will be used to expand BAI's on-demand cargo (ODC) service.
