The airline took delivery of its second 787 from Boeing on Thursday, and expects another three 787s to arrive later this year. United has a total of 50 Dreamliners on order from Boeing, and plans for its first commercial flight with the aircraft on Nov. 4.

"I want to thank my co-workers who worked so carefully and professionally to get United certified to operate the Dreamliner," said United's President and CEO Jeff Smisek. "Many people from across the company put in a lot of work to help us induct and prepare to operate the 787, and I'm proud to share this important day with all of them."
