U.S., Netherlands Sign Air Traffic Agreement

FAA on Thursday announced a new agreement signed with the Netherlands to promote the coordination of air traffic flows between the two countries in the San Juan flight information region.

The U.S. provides air traffic flow services in the region, which is adjacent to the Netherlands-controlled airspace. In signing the agreement, the two nations will facilitate the installation and maintenance of FAA air navigation equipment and facilities in the region as needed.

"The Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United States share values, history and a commitment to safety, in the air, on the land or sea. This agreement strengthens our cooperation to the benefit of the Caribbean, the United States and Europe," said Rudolf Bekink, Dutch ambassador to the United States.

FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said his agency looks forward to exchanging information on regulation and oversight of aviation safety with the Netherlands.
