Hawaiian Airlines Expands to China

[Aviation Today April 18, 2014] Hawaiian Airlines has launched non-stop service to Beijing, the island carrier's first ever service to a destination in mainland China.

The airline's new service will add nearly 50,000 seats to both travel markets, Hawaiian said. According to the Hawai'i Tourism Authority (HTA), more than 132,000 passengers flew from China to Hawaii and 2013, and HTA expects and increase of 37 percent between the two markets in 2014.
The service was launched with Hawaiian's A330-200 aircraft.

"China is a vastly growing region for the state's tourism economy and we anticipate this flight to provide an estimated $81.06 million in annual visitor spending and $8.47 million in state tax revenue," said Mike McCartney, president and CEO of HTA.
