GE Aviation Opens New Composites Factory

GE Aviation announced the opening of its new composites factory in Ellisville, Miss., its second composites site in the state.

Ellisville Composites will produce and assemble new composite components that GE says are "unique in the aviation industry." The composites will be produced for two engine programs, CFM's LEAP jet engines and the  Snecma/GE Passport jet engine. Among the  composite components are fan platforms and inlets.

According to GE, composite jet engine and aircraft systems components provide reduced maintenance costs because of the weight savings and durability thee parts provide.

"GE Aviation’s growing partnership with the state of Mississippi is creating long-term economic growth," said David Joyce, president and CEO of GE Aviation.
