GE Aviation Delivers First A350 Wing Components
GE Aviation Hamble delivered the first wing fixed trailing edge components for the first production Airbus A350 XWB-MSN001, which is currently undergoing ground testing at the Airbus facility in Toulouse.
The company is providing the wing fixed trailing edge components for all three variants of the A350 XWB (A350-800, -900 and -1000) as part of the largest production contract in its 75-year history.
"This delivery start up results from major achievements at GE Aviation in design and manufacturing - bringing together new tool sets, materials and technologies, while also involving concurrent engineering with global suppliers to obtain material and long-lead items in unprecedented timescales," said Steve Walter, executive product leader at GE Aviation.
The first A350 test flight is on schedule for mid 2013, with a planned entry into service in 2014. More
