CAE Inks Simulator Contracts

Joy Finnegan

Canadian simulator manufacturer CAE said it signed contracts to manufacture three full-flight simulators (FFSs) and associated CAE Simfinity training devices for Alteon, Virgin Blue and Indonesian airline Lion Air. The contracts are valued at about $50 million at list prices. CAE won a contract to design and manufacture a CAE 7000 Series Boeing 747-8 FFS for Alteon Training, a Boeing subsidiary. Also, Alteon ordered a suite of CAE Simfinity ground school training devices for the new Boeing 747-8 aircraft. The Boeing 747-8 FFS, which will also be convertible to a Boeing 747-400 FFS, and associated training devices will be delivered to Alteon in 2009. The Boeing 777-300ER FFS for Virgin Blue will be delivered in mid-2008. This contract is CAE's second this year with Virgin Blue, which will be taking delivery of the Boeing 777-300ER to initiate long-haul services. Lion Air's Boeing 737-900ER FFS will be delivered to the Lion Air training centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, in early 2008. This contract is CAE's first with Lion Air.
