[Avionics Today 06-19-2015] Boeing has released its 2015 Environment Report highlighting the company's increased use of renewable energy, testing of environmentally promising technologies, and other progress toward improving the environmental performance of its products, services and operations. The report updates Boeing's major facilities' performance to the environmental targets of zero growth by 2017 in greenhouse gas emissions, water intake, hazardous waste generation and solid waste sent to landfills.

In this report, the company highlights its increasing use of renewable energy, including powering the 4.3-million-square-foot 737 factory in Renton, Wash., with electricity from 100-percent renewable sources; and testing more than 40 technologies on the ecoDemonstrator 787 and 757 to improve airplane fuel efficiency and reduce emissions and noise.
