American Airlines Receives First Boeing 777-300ER
American Airlines has become the first U.S. carrier to take delivery of Boeing’s 777-300ER. The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline will enter the plane into service in 2013, as it looks to continue its fleet modernization and network expansion plan.
"This marks an important milestone in our fleet renewal program and is another tangible example of our progress in building the new American for our customers and our people," said Bella Goren, chief financial officer at American Airlines. "This aircraft will provide our customers with a new level of comfort and convenience, along with delivering increased efficiency and better operating economics.”
The delivery is the first of 14 new 777-300ERs on order for American, which is currently operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. More
