[Aviation Today June 4, 2104] Airbus has completed the first two flights involving passengers with its A350 XWB MSN 2 flight testing aircraft.
Air France and Lufthansa completed two flights with passengers and cabin crews. Airbus
said the "Early Long Flights" were completed in "typical airline operating conditions."
Although the flights are not part of the technical certification program for the A350, the French airframe manufacturer used them to asses the cabin environment and systems ahead of final certification. Both flights took off and landed in Toulouse, France.
Passengers were able to test the In-flight Entertainment (IFE) systems among others during the two flights.
Airbus said the A350 is on track to enter into service in the fourth quarter with Qatar Airways. Through the end of May 2014, the A350 XWB has garnered 812 orders from 39 customers across the globe.
