Afriqiyah Airways Orders Additional Airbus A350 XWBs
Libyan carrier Afriqiyah Airways increased its original order for Airbus A350 XWB aircraft to include an additional four A350-900s, worth up to $1.1 billion.
The airline had originally placed an order for six A350-800 aircraft, and is replacing them with an order for the larger A350-900 variant.
“Having Afriqiyah come back with this new, incremental order for the A350 XWB is great news and a strong signal that this aircraft is the industry’s new benchmark in the long-haul segment,” said John Leahy, COO at Airbus.
Airbus plans to start delivering the A350 to its customers in 2014.
