ALC Orders 25 A350s, Firms Order for A321neos

Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corp. (ALC) signed an agreement to purchase 20 A350-900s and five A350-1000s, a $7.4 billion value according to current Airbus list prices. The order includes options for five additional A350-1000s.

ALC also exercised options on 14 A321neos that were part of a purchase agreement signed at the 2012 Farnborough Air Show. The A321neo is scheduled to enter into commercial service in 2016.

Combined, the two orders are valued at almost $9 billion.

The order for the A350s comes following the recent grounding of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliners planes, although ALC did not say their decision to go with Airbus was influenced by the Dreamliner issues. The A350 is a competitor to Boeing’s 787, and will enter into commercial service in 2014. More
