Cessna Rolls Out First Production New Citation Sovereign
Cessna’s first production New Citation Sovereign—an upgraded version of the original Citation Sovereign—rolled out of the company’s Wichita, Kan. manufacturing facility Monday, ready to move on to the next stages of completion.
The business jet manufacturer said the New Sovereign is one of six new aircraft that it expects to bring to the market in 2013, including the new Citation X, Citation M2, TTx, Grand Caravan EX and 182 Turbo Skylane JT-A. The upgraded Sovereign features the Garmin G5000 avionics suite and winglets that allow it to climb directly to 45,000 feet.
"This rollout today is proof of Cessna's commitment to bringing new products to customers in 2013, and demonstrates our strong investment in the future," said Kelly Reich, business leader for the New Citation Sovereign. "It's a short turn-around from just announcing this program last fall, to already having an aircraft rolling out the door and headed to the next stages of completion.”
Cessna expects type certification and entry into service for its new business jet in the third quarter of 2013. More
